So today the issue of breast feeding in public came up in a room populated mainly by women. I was HORRIFIED by the responses of most of the people who jumped to comment.
"I just think it is disrespectful to do in public. I don't want my kids seeing that."
Seeing what? A BREAST? We have hyper-sexualized women to such an extent that even the act of feeding a baby makes people uncomfortable. Do some people really think that a hungry infant should go unfed so that they can be protected from the horrors of the uncovered female body? How is it that our culture is so sex obsessed and prudish at the same time? Why is it that women are joining the chorus of woman-shaming bullshit? Most women have breasts. Are you horrified by your own?
I'll be damned if my kids will go hungry because some moron hasn't figured out that a woman's body has a purpose outside of sexual gratification.
